Description
Meet Owen!
Owen is a 11-year-old adopted from a European country when he was seven. We call him “Owen” because we need to keep his name private.
We are looking for a single parent or a two-parent family (homosexual or heterosexual) who is home study ready (or has one that can be updated quickly) where he will be the youngest child or only child in the family.
The family has no preferences as to religion, location, employment or age of the new adopting family.
If you fit what we are looking for, please write to us and request his full information. kidteenadoptions@wiaa.org
The family has tried their best to meet Owen’s needs. They have come to feel that he would do better in a different family. Owen is continually triggered by his siblings and has not bonded to his current family.
Owen likes to play sports, ride his bike and spend time outdoors. He likes to watch TV and play video games. He enjoys helping care for the family pets. Owen is a sweet boy that does not like confrontation. He would much rather avoid a situation than to cause a fight.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster care home study will not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need a current, updated or new home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are unable to place this child in CT, MA, NY, FL, or DE. If you live in WI, we can do placements, but they have a few requirements that include three visits with the child. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption.
If we have home study ready families for this child, we will consider them first. Therefore, if you are willing to take a child between the ages of 8 and 15, we suggest you begin the process as soon as possible.
We know that adopting a child over the age of 8 is going to be difficult, but we feel confident that there are parents of all types, single men and women, traditional couples and same-sex couples out there who love kids and would love to add them to their families.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated with them. There are grants out there to help fund your adoption (please request that information.) This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
