Description
Colin is an 8 years old boy who was adopted from foster care. He is in need of a new home, as he isn’t currently thriving in his current environment.
We are looking for a single dad or a two-parent family (heterosexual and LGBTQ families are welcome to inquire) who is home study ready (or has one that can be updated quickly). Colin would do best as the only child or the youngest in his new family. Families with a younger sibling will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The family prefers a Christian home of any denomination. He has grown up learning about God and enjoys his youth group. The family has no preferences as to location, employment or age.
If you fit what we are looking for, please write to us and request his full information: kidteenadoptions@wiaa.org
The family has tried their best to meet Colin’s needs. They have come to feel that he would do better in a different family. The new family will have to realize that he has an older biological sibling that they may need to be open for connections when Colin becomes older.
Colin has not bonded to his current parents and has a trauma bond with his older sibling. He is a middle child with two older siblings (one is his biological sibling) and two younger ones. His parents feel he would do better in a family where he is able to get more individualized attention.
Colin enjoys playing outside. He likes to climb trees and ride his bike. He enjoys being in Boy Scouts and doing Taekwondo. He has taken piano lessons for 4 years. His parents say he is good at playing (he just doesn’t like to practice.) He loves jumping on the trampoline and is good at doing gymnastic/acrobatic moves.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster care home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need a current, updated or new home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are unable to place this child in CT, MA, NY, FL, and DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption. If you live in Wisconsin, there are slightly different rules we have to follow.
If you haven’t started your home study, please contact us for information on how to begin one. However, if we have home study ready families for this child, we will consider them first. Therefore, if you are willing to take a child between the ages of 8 and 15, we suggest you begin the process as soon as possible.
We know that adopting a child over the age of 9 is going to be difficult, but we feel confident that there are parents of all types, single men and women, traditional couples and same-sex couples out there who love kids and would love to add them to their families.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated with them. There are grants out there to help fund your adoption (please request that information.) This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
