Sweet Stefcho’s information is very current from September 23, 2022. He was born August of 2014. The report from our attorney says the following: Stefcho is a smiling, radiant boy who easily communicates with the people around him and is not bothered by the presence of strangers. He is diagnosed with moderate mental retardation, no impairment or minimal behavioral impairment. Congenital equinovarus deformity of the left foot. Spastic quadriparesis and Convergent concomitant strabismus.
Despite his diagnosis, Stefcho is lively and can do many things on his own. Stefcho gets down and gets out of the wheelchair by himself. He can stand with support, although with difficulty due to his extremely crooked feet. He crawls, mainly using his upper body. He has an extremely developed upper body and strong arms. He feeds himself with a spoon without spilling on himself. He eats normal food (not pureed or chopped), and likes soups, tarator and fruit. He does not like any meat – not even minced meat. He knows that if he eats the main course, he will get dessert. He moves himself to the dining table in his wheelchair. He eats with his right hand but holds his pencil with his left. Like any child, Stefcho enjoys individual attention and is always ready to show what he can do. He loves being around children. He likes to play in the ball pool and slide on the slide that is attached to the ball pool. He likes to swing on the rocking dog. He also likes to play with the constructor. He enjoys new toys and loves gifts. Stefcho tries to stand up by pulling himself up on a stationary support, but because the lower part of his legs are quite crooked, he is unable to stand up completely. Stefcho needs leg surgery and glasses.
Stefcho regularly visits the Center for Work with Children, where he works with a rehabilitator and a psychologist. He can say a few words like “aunt”, “mom”, and “yes”. He waves and kisses goodbye. He recognizes the ringing of the front doorbell. Stefcho is in diapers At the moment he has no obvious allergies to drugs or food He is not on permanent medical treatment. His sleep is peaceful. He has an afternoon nap.
I hope Stefcho will find his mommy and daddy soon who will love him and will give him the opportunity to be in family environment where we believe he will thrive. He has so much love in his heart to give. We hope that he will have the chance to learn some sign language in his family and be able to communicate more. We really hope that this sweet boy will find his forever family soon. For more information please contact Kathy@wiaa.org.
