Description
Meet Leslie!
Leslie is a 13-year-old girl adopted internationally from China. Her favorite subjects in school are Literature and Language. She is enjoys crocheting and knitting and her creative part is apparent when she knits something without a pattern. She is involved in track and cross country at school, which has proved to be a positive outlet. She also loves decorating her fairy garden. She has taken horse riding lessons where she has enjoyed riding and taking care of horses.
Leslie is generally shy but comes around quickly. She prefers to be with adults rather than her peers, often staying in from recess to help the teacher. She is generally a “people pleaser” and is polite and well mannered. Leslie feels more secure in a structured and routine environment. As such, she is organized, but with that if her routine is broken, she will focus and even correct parents and teachers. She has a strong attention to detail and an incredible talent for memorizing.
Leslie’s appearance is consistent with other girls her age from her birth country of China. She is petite and short statured compared to her classroom peers. She has no physical deformities or handicaps.
The adoptive family should have a therapist or counselor lined up to help Leslie through this process. The therapist needs to have experience with children with orphanage trauma and abandonment issues.
Leslie would do best in a two-parent household that is capable of building attachment through one-on-one attention while still building self-dependency and personal accountability. She will do fine with or without brothers but there could be a benefit of having other girls in the home, especially if one was adopted. The adoptive family is looking for a Christian family.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster care home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need a current, updated or new home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we cannot place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in WI, a few steps must be followed, but it is possible to adopt from there. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption. We have made recent connections in FL that could potentially make it possible to place in that state.
Please contact us for more information.
If we have home study ready families for this child, we will consider them first. Therefore, if you are willing to take a child between the ages of 9 and 15, we suggest you begin the process as soon as possible.
We know that adopting a child over the age of 9 could be difficult, but we feel confident that there are parents of all types out there who love kids and would love to add them to their families.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated with them. There are grants out there to help fund your adoption (please request that information.) This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
