Description
Meet Karah!
*Karah turned 7 in May (2018) and was adopted internationally. We are looking for a home with no other children under age 10 for Karah. If you have either a current or easily updated homestudy and fit our requirements, please write us back at secondchance@wiaa.org for her full profile. We would love to share Karah’s info and our process of being approved for a Second Chance adoption.
Kara is reported to be a happy child who is social at school, wants to be involved with others’ activities and enjoys helping around the house with cooking, cleaning and laundry. Her favorite shows on TV are Paw Patrol and Shimmer and Shine. She likes to sing and dance to music. She is an affectionate child who gives hugs and kisses and says “I love you”. She is a girlie-girl who loves clothes, dresses, shoes and purses.
Karah is going into the 2nd grade. Karah is a likeable kid who always has a crowd of kids around her. At school, everyone knows her name and wants to talk to her and play with her. Teachers, therapists and the school principal really like her and speak warmly of her. They all agree that she has great potential. She has a sweet heart and wants to do good. She responds well to positive reinforcement.
Karah sleeps well at night (about 10 hours). Karah needs more focused support from parents who are not also trying to raise other young children. Also, a homeschool environment where she did not have the transitions and peer competition would be a great possibility for Karah. Karah is a happy-go-lucky, active child, always on the go. She is extremely chatty and wants to share all about her day and other thoughts in her head.
Karah is in second grade and her curriculum focuses on Life Skills.
To reach her full potential, she deserves to live in an environment that moves at a slower pace and allows for her to get the individual attention she deserves. That’s why we are looking for a small family with one stay at home parent and no other kids close to her age for her to worry about getting the individual attention she deserves.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, or DE. If you live in OR, you would have to finalize the adoption in her current state of residence. If you have never had a homestudy before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But, we would love to share with you the process of starting a homestudy so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption qualifies for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
