***UPDATE***
We are pleased to receive a new report, photos and videos for Georgi born June of 2013 with Down Syndrome. Our Bulgarian staff met him January of 2024 and said the following:
Georgi is extremely sweet boy. He is nice and handsome, and very open to communication and chatting. He accepted me easily and was pleased with the opportunity to receive personal attention. In the beginning he introduced himself and told me how old he was.
Georgi is developing extremely well for his condition of Down Syndrome. He understood all the questions I asked him and answered adequately to all of them. His speech is not very understandable, but I was able to understand about 70-80% of what he was saying. The social worker mentioned that he works with a speech therapist every week. She also said that he does not give up easily. If he likes and is interested in something, he can keep his attention for a long time and keep trying until it works (for example until he builds something, etc.). His fine and gross motor skills are very well developed for his condition.
Georgi knows some of the animals and what they do. For example, he told me what kittens do and that they like to drink milk. He also knows the main colors – he was able to tell me which color is yellow, blue, red. When I asked him if it is cold or hot outside, he told me it is cold but was not sure which season it was. He shared that he likes the snow. He also was not able to tell me which season it was when they went to the sea (in the summer).
Georgi can count to 10 and can count objects that are in front of him. In that way he can sum small amounts (up to 10) with help. He can write short words with help. He has written his name for me.
He loves to draw and color and can do that for a long time. I was surprised how well he was coloring and how careful he was when doing it. He also loves building with building blocks and can engage with that for a long time. He several times has been counting the parts he has using to build, and it was the right number. He also shared that he loves balls and slides and to be outside.
He eats well and is not picky to food. His sleep is calm.
I asked him if he has a best friend and he said – yes and that his name is N. He shares a room with another boy, whose name is M.
I asked him what he had for breakfast, and he remembered that it was pasta with cheese. He also remembered that for lunch he had a soup and yogurt for dessert.
He explained to me that he was going to school every day on a bus and that he loves to ride the bus.
Personal impressions:
Georgi is an extremely sweet and positive little boy. He is a real joy to communicate with! He is talkative and nice, and loving! He for sure has a big potential for development, and a loving family environment and personal attention can make him advance a lot! We pray that his family forever finds him soon!
