Description
Meet Briggs!
*Briggs just turned 5 years old and was adopted at birth. He has been moved around quite a bit between his adopted mom and birth family and is struggling with knowing where he belongs. He was adopted into a home with another adopted child of the same age. If you’re familiar with Second Chance you know one of our hard and fast rules is not placing a child into a home with any other same-aged children. Artificial twinning is sometimes a disaster, and in this case, it has proven to be more than Briggs can handle—there is too much negative competition between the two boys and so his adopted mom is seeking a new adopting family for him. We are looking for a new adoptive home for Briggs who has a current (or easily updated) homestudy and no other children in the home under age 7. Please write to us at secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org to learn the full story of why Briggs needs a Second Chance.
Briggs is a playful and helpful child. He isn’t afraid of anything and loves to try new things. He especially enjoys playing with things that are complex and unique like his fidget spinner. He prefers to play outside and enjoys fishing, riding his bike and playing sports. He’s starting to take an interest in baseball and would love to learn to play. His favorite color (right now!) is red. He prefers to eat veggies and fish over red meats. His adopted mom says he is ‘inquisitive, active, observant and articulate’—he loves to talk about everything and anything—and has good conversation skills. He has a very sweet, expressive face when talking; his eyebrows are always moving!! He loves the family’s dogs. He likes to go to church with his grandma and enjoys singing and moving his body to any upbeat music that he hears. He also enjoys helping cook in the kitchen. Briggs has no food allergies or aversions and eats well.
Briggs is set to start Kindergarten in the fall. He already knows his ABC’s, can count to 20 and knows his shapes and colors.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel back to the child’s state to finalize the adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But, we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.
