Description
Michael is a 13 year old boy that was adopted internationally when he was younger. His family have partnered with KidTeen Adoptions to try and find him a a home where he can let down his guard and where his emotional and relational needs can be better met. Michael is a middle child of a large family and has never fully attached to his adoptive family members.
We are looking for a traditional two parent or single parent home. Even though Michael is 13 years old, he is more the size of a 7-8 year old boy. He may do best as the smallest child in a new home, as size matters more to him than age. The family would prefer a Christian family but are open to all religions or non-religious couples and individuals. There is no preference on location, employment or age of the new adoptive parent(s).
Michael is generally a happy boy that is able to “go with the flow.” He does not have a problem with change and is able to enjoy spontaneous adventures/changes with others. He loves music, riding in cars, light up toys and being outside. He also LOVES wearing hats. Michael enjoys food and the way to his heart is with chicken nuggets. 🙂 Michael is an active boy and enjoys moving, especially swinging. Michael likes to play individually as well as with other people. Michael isn’t the type of child that will initiate social engagement, but he’s happy if another child joins him in play.
Michael is currently in the 7th grade. Due to his academic and emotional needs, he’ll need continued school support in a new home. Michael has spent time in a long term respite home and done very well. Because he’s done so well outside of his home, we have hope that he’d do well in a new family.
If you fit what we are looking for, please write to us and request his full information. Please email us at kidteenadoptions@wiaa.org
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster care home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need a current, updated or new home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we cannot place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in WI, a few steps must be followed, but it is possible to adopt from there. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption. We have made recent connections in FL that could potentially make it possible to place in that state. Please contact us for more information.
If we have home study ready families for this child, we will consider them first. Therefore, if you are willing to take a child between the ages of 9 and 15, we suggest you begin the process as soon as possible.
We know that adopting a child over the age of 9 could be difficult, but we feel confident that there are parents of all types out there who love kids and would love to add them to their families.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated with them. There are grants out there to help fund your adoption (please request that information.) This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
