Description
Meet Lydia!
*Lydia is 5 years old and was adopted from US foster care. As is common with children in the Second Chance program, Lydia struggles to compete with the similarly-aged child in her adoptive home. Lydia deserves to shine as the baby of the family and receive all the attention she’s craving. We have partnered with her first adoptive family to find a new adoptive family who has a current homestudy (or one that can be quickly updated) and no other children in the home under age 8. If you fit these requirements, please write to us and request her full profile. Please write to secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org .
Lydia is an intelligent and cheerful child with a can-do attitude. She has a wide span of interests, from outdoor activities to playing with dolls. She enjoys biking (two wheel), coloring, painting, riding battery operated cars, swimming, Barbies, toy cars, etc. She likes to help out and be a part of getting things done. She is observant and always paying attention to what is going on around her. She can problem solve well and enjoys being around people. Lydia likes to color and paintand loves dancing, especially ballet. Lydia isn’t a girlie-girl, but she likes bows and dressing up pretty. She is a very independent person who tries very hard to learn skills well, so she doesn’t need help. Lydia takes good care of her things; they matter a lot to her and she values them. She really loves her stuffed animals—when she was gone for a trip and came home, she ran to her stuffed animals, and hugged them and said how much she misses them. She likes to keep things clean, she’s neat. Purple and pink are her favorite colors.
Lydia is a bright, engaged child who enjoys school worksheets. She is good at coloring and letter and number formation. Her progress in preschool was similar to her peers with her teacher expressing no learning concerns. Her teacher reports she is ‘helpful, engaged, cheerful and easily redirected’.
If you fit the profile we’re looking for, please write to secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org and ask to see Lydia’s full profile. We would love to share more about this child and what kind of home we think she will thrive in.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in OR you may have to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
