Description
Meet Londyn!
*Londyn is 10 and was adopted when she was 6 years old. Her adoptive family has another child her same age and as with many of our Second Chance kids, she has had trouble attaching well to this family. She has made amazing progress healing from the trauma of 6 years without a family, but in the process did not form a good attachment to this first family. We are hopeful that in a different family she will move forward with a healthy attachment. They have partnered with Second Chance to find a new adoptive family for Londyn who has no other children in the home under age 13 and a current (or easily updated) homestudy. Londyn loves animals and we hope her new family will have pets for her to bond with. She will do best in a home with a predictable routine, regular bedtime, and lots of regular exercise. Please write to us and request her ‘full profile’ if you fit these requirements and would like to know more about Londyn and our process of being preapproved for a Second Chance adoption. Londyn can be shy at times but is outgoing for the most part. She is very affectionate and enjoysa lot of physical touch: hand-holding, sitting on your lap, hugs and kisses. She enjoys being close to you which sometimes feels needy or clingy. Her adopted mom told us she is a strong-willed, resilient, smart and observant child. She is willing to try hard at school and life. She is creative, unselfconscious, headstrong, and will do anything to please the people in her life. She so desires to be accepted. She sleeps well and eats well (no allergies). She has been in gymnastics, ballet, dance and horse-back riding lessons and enjoyed them all! Londyn is athletic and active—a fast runner. She prefers busyness over sedentary activities, but will sit and watch tv too. She LOVES it when her mom says something like, “Okay, today this is the list of things we need to get done! Do you want to help me?” She likes to ride her bike and scooter and go the park and for walks. She likes to cook and help with household chores (her desire to please means she strives to do a great job when you give her one). She does well with activities that require organization or helping in the kitchen. She loves to read-mostly adventure books. Her mom says she’s not a ‘Hello Kitty girl’, she’s a ‘super-hero girl’! She has several journals that she enjoys writing in, as well as reading books such as the Harry Potter series. Her reading comprehension is great and she has a good imagination for writing her own stories.
Londyn enjoys riding horses, and is great with all kinds of animals. She prefers clean and organized over messy. Her favorite food is mac and cheese…and she HATES tomatoes!
Londyn is in the 5th grade and is a bright, hard working student. Her favorite subjects are math and science, and she’s very good at both. She is smart, and disciplined when it comes to homework. She has beautiful penmanship too!
Londyn understands in an age-appropriate manner that expressing her needs verbally is a good thing to do. She is able to discuss her feelings when asked appropriately and gently. She has an age-appropriate understanding of how her choices and behaviors have consequences and how her actions affect others. She expresses herself and her feelings well through verbal and written means.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.
