Description
Meet Jamie and Mandie!
*Mandie (age 9) and *Jamie (age 8) are biological sisters who were adopted together last year internationally. The girls are in need of a home where they can be the youngest children and soak up all the time and attention from their parents that they missed out on for many years in the orphanage setting.
Second Chance has partnered with the first adoptive family to find a forever home for the girls who can devote the time and energy to help them become their best selves. We are looking for a homestudy ready (or can be quickly) family with no other children in the home under age 12. The girls may need play therapy, so we’d like their new home to have access to a good therapist. The girls deserve to have parents who can give each of them quality time—they are best friends and love to be together, but also crave individual attention. If this fits your family, please write to us for their full profile. We would love to share with you more of the girls’ story and why they need a different adoptive home. Mandie is an incredible artist who also loves playing games and doing puzzles as a family. She loves to swim, jump on the trampoline, ride scooters and do other active outdoor activities. She is organized and contemplative—recently, on a trip to a museum, she spent time reading every sign and thinking about the exhibits. She loves animals and is appropriately affectionate with family and friends. She is in the 4th grade and doing well in school.
Jamie has an amazing, outgoing personality and loves to joke around. She is athletic and interested in ballet, dance and gymnastics. She also loves to work on art projects. She is in the 2nd grade and doing well in school. She likes to have books read to her, watch movies, jump on the trampoline, and have snowball fights.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you live in WI, please let us know, as the adoption process may be longer and a bit more expensive than what is listed in our paperwork. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started! We are only able to work with US citizens living abroad if they are active duty military.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
