Description
This is Haven!
She’s a 12-year-old girl that was adopted privately when she was younger. She is in need of a new home. Haven is the oldest child in her family and she yearns to be the baby. Haven has not attached to her family. Because of this and the triggers in her current house, both Haven and her parents have decided that finding a new home would be in her best interest.
We are looking for a single or two-parent household (heterosexual and LGBTQ+ couples and individuals are invited to inquire). Haven has said that she would like to be the baby in her new family. We are looking for a family where Haven can be the only child or the youngest. The family is willing to look at families that have younger children, as long as there is no one younger than the age of 9 years. There are no preferences as to religion, location, employment or age of the new adoptive parent(s). Haven thrives in a structured environment and would do well with school support.
Haven is a sweet and charismatic girl. Her parents say she is very creative and is often found drawing and creating things in her art notebooks. She loves to sing and perform and just made the glee club at school. She likes to write her own songs. Haven is on the swim team and has done karate for over a year. She enjoys both sports. She is athletic but doesn’t like other sports because they make her too sweaty 🙂.
Haven enjoys school and is adored by her teachers. She will need extra support in Math as this is her hardest subject. She is social and likes to spend time with peers. Recently she has been obsessed with everything related to Japan and Japanese food.
If you fit what we are looking for, please write to us and request her full information. Please email us at kidteenadoptions@wiaa.org
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster care home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need a current, updated or new home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are unable to place this child in CT, MA, NY, FL, or DE. If you live in WI, there are a few steps that have to be followed, but it is possible to adopt from there. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption.
If we have home study ready families for this child, we will consider them first. Therefore, if you are willing to take a child between the ages of 9 and 15, we suggest you begin the process as soon as possible.
We know that adopting a child over the age of 9 is going to be difficult, but we feel confident that there are parents of all types, single men and women, traditional couples and same-sex couples out there who love kids and would love to add them to their families.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated with them. There are grants out there to help fund your adoption (please request that information.) This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
