Description
Meet Evie!
*Evie will be turning 9 right after Christmas 2020. She was adopted from US foster care a little over a year ago along with two younger half siblings. Evie is very unhappy in this home and continues to feel the need to ‘parent’ her younger siblings rather than just be a kid herself. Her adopted parents feel that she needs time to be the ‘baby’ of the family and bond with a set of parents who can give her undivided attention. Her younger siblings also need the opportunity to attach well to their new family and Evie’s behavior is interfering with that.
We are hoping to find a traditional two parent home with no other children under the age of 12 to adopt Evie. Second Chance requires that you have a current homestudy or one that can be updated quickly. Evie enjoys going to church and praying and learning about God, so we hope that her new adoptive family will help her to continue in her relationship with God. If you fit what we’re looking for, please write to us and request Evie’s full profile. We’d love to tell you more about why she needs a secondary adoption. Write to secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org
Evie likes to perform and be the center of attention. She is curious and very, very quick to notice things. She has a good memory for people’s names. She is a good artist and enjoys drawing. Evieis active and enjoys playing outside. She knows how to ride a bike and is learning to play baseball. She has a strong desire to love and be loved. She wants to have a large family and is excited by the prospect of aunts, uncles and cousins. She has an outgoing attitude, always ready to make friends. Evie is confident around adults and has a well-rounded vocabulary. She really craves adult attention and deserves to have parents who can give her affection and attention without needing to focus on other young children in the home. She likes to give and receive hugs. Evie is quick to make friends, she is very extroverted and outgoing. Evie is in the 3rdgrade and gets mostly A’s and B’s.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY or DE. If you live in OR, you may have to travel to the child’s state for finalization of the adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!
Adoption is a legal process so costs for the adoption are $300 application fee, $3500 agency fee, a lawyer in your state for ICPC and finalization ($2000-$4000) and travel to the child’s state for a couple days to bring her home. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
