Description
Emma is a 11-year-old girl who was adopted from foster care. She was 13 months old when she was placed with her family and adopted when she was two. She 5’0”, 120 lbs, with blue eyes and brown hair. Emma is loyal to friends. She enjoys drawing, arts and crafts, baking, science, and reading.
Emma is a very artistic child. She loves to draw, paint, craft, and make bracelets. She also loves to bake (with help) and has expressed interest in learning how to decorate cakes. She loves to swim and is currently in an after-school swim program. She recently has expressed an interest in singing and soccer.
Emma does have a medical diagnosis of Chiari Malformation. She recently had an MRI and the attending doctor said every looked normal. The size of the herniation is very small, and she is mostly asymptomatic. Because she is asymptomatic & has no restrictions for her condition, we haven’t been to the neurosurgeon in several years.
Emma would do well in a family where there are no other children, or no other children in the home. She will need a family that is committed to continuing her treatment in terms of therapy and medication. Her family feels that her current medication has helped her stabilize her moods and grow emotionally. They are open to parents that are heterosexual, same-sex, or single parent. Families of any faith.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster care home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need a current, updated, or new home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we cannot place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in WI, a few steps must be followed, but it is possible to adopt from there. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption. We have made recent connections in FL that could potentially make it possible to place in that state.
Please contact us for more information.
If we have home study ready families for this child, we will consider them first. Therefore, if you are willing to take a child between the ages of 9 and 15, we suggest you begin the process as soon as possible.
We know that adopting a child over the age of 9 could be difficult, but we feel confident that there are parents of all types out there who love kids and would love to add them to their families.
