Meet Boone!

There is a $3500 grant on this adoption which will cover the agency fee.

*Boone recently turned 9 and was adopted domestically when he was 5 years old. As with many of our Second Chance kids, Boone has been sandwiched between several other children in the home both a little younger and older than him. This has not given him the time and attention he needs without feeling the need to compete with the other children. We are looking for a new adoptive home for him with no other children under age 11 (and not of small stature—like Boone is) who has a current homestudy (or one that can be easily updated). We are hoping to find either a traditional two parent home or a single parent for Boone.

Boone is very creative and energetic. He can problem solve a play situation with a wonderful alternative. He loves building things with a variety of blocks and other items; he is very persevering; he loves to read chapter books; he remembers everything said by adults. He loves to organize and be helpful. Boone is very bright and quickly understands and applies academic concepts. He’s observant and always thinking about things—“why are the cones on the side of the road?” “When did that construction piece get parked there and why?” He will think about it, and then say ‘oh, I know why xyz…’. He is always trying to invent things; making; building; integrating things. He enjoys building with cardboard and paper. He has a great imagination and likes to bring others into his imagination. He is task oriented and enjoys doing chores, cleaning up, sweeping. He likes you to come alongside him and work with him, one-on-one. Boone prefers organization and makes sure everything is in its proper place. His favorite color is red and he loves to play Super Mario games. His favorite food is mac and cheese.

He also enjoys arts including making crafts, painting and coloring. Boone excels in math in both formal academics and everyday life skills. He loves to build with Legos and helps with building projects around the house. He is active and enjoys a wide variety of body movement activities. Not shy when meeting new people. Very affectionate when an adult is giving him sustained 1:1 attention. Bright and quickly learns new skills. Auditory and visual memory is exceptional. Wants to be involved in whatever activity is happening around him. Positive sense of self and easily advocates for his own needs. Boone tends to be more of an outdoor kid. He likes to ride bikes, climb things, and throw the frisbee.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.

Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started! We are only able to work with US citizens living abroad if they are active-duty military.

Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
