Description
Meet Summer
Summer is an 11-year-old girl (turns 12 in Spring 2023) who was adopted internationally. She is not thriving in her current home and is hoping to find a new family where she can be successful. Summer has a strained relationship with her adoptive parents and an extremely competitive and jealous relationship with her siblings.
We are looking for a heterosexual couple or single mother. The family believes that Summer would thrive with having at least one black parent, because Summer really resonates with being African. Summer wants to be a strong black woman and looks to other black women as examples and role models. Summer would do best as the only child but families with other children will be considered on a case-by-case basis. She has claimed that she would like to be an older sister. Summer loves going to church and youth groups. The family would like Summer to be placed in a church attending Christian home, so she can continue to develop her relationship with God. The new family would need to live in the United States. There is no preference on the employment or age of the new adoptive parent(s). It would be important for the new family to be trauma informed.
Summer is described as a smart girl. She is good at spelling and loves reading. She does well socially and academically at school. Summer is an active girl. Her parents say she is gifted at basketball. She has played on both basketball and softball teams. Summer is charismatic and fun to be around. She is considered extroverted and enjoys spending time with her peers. Summer enjoys being outside riding her bike, skateboarding or roller skating. She has leadership qualities and skills that she was able to utilize as part of a club at school. She has absolutely zero issues outside of her home.
Summer would do best in a structured environment with prominent authority figures.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster care home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need a current, updated or new home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are unable to place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in WI, there are a few steps that have to be followed, but it is possible to adopt from there. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize the adoption. We have made recent connections in FL that could potentially make it possible to place in that state. Please contact us for more information.
If we have home study ready families for this child, we will consider them first. Therefore, if you are willing to take a child between the ages of 9 and 15, we suggest you begin the process as soon as possible.
We know that adopting a child over the age of 9 could be difficult, but we feel confident that there are parents of all types out there who love kids and would love to add them to their families.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated with them. There are grants out there to help fund your adoption (please request that information.) This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
