Description
Meet Jordan!
*Jordan is 8 years old and adopted internationally. Jordan has not attached to his first adoptive family and mentions frequently that he would like to live somewhere else. He has not been diagnosed with attachment issues but exhibits many of the same behaviors we see in children who come into the Second Chance program. We feel that Jordan will likely do well in a new, different family and are partnering with his first adoptive family to find a new adoptive family for him. We are looking for a mainstream protestant Christian family for Jordan with no other children under age 10. If you have a current (or easily updated) homestudy and fit this profile, we’d love to share all of his information with you! If you fit this, please write to us at secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org and ask for his full profile. We are willing to consider a single mom for Jordan if she has a good support network with positive male role models available.
Jordan loves to play outside—he is good at skiing, swimming, fishing, bike riding and collecting all sorts of small creepy-crawly-hoppy-slithery things! If he’s outside, you can usually find him digging holes or turning over rocks looking for insects and frogs. He does well memorizing scripture for Awana club. He is an avid reading who also enjoys listening to audio books—in the 1st grade he received an award for reading the most minutes. He is artistic and enjoys lots of different crafts.
Jordan shows empathy whenever someone else is hurting and is quick to come to their aid. He is compassionate and gentle with animals—he LOVES animals and would dearly love to have a dog, but his current family has someone allergic, so he can’t. Jordan is skilled at building Legos and makes perfectly symmetrical creations. His family reports that he is “charismatic, funny, smart, focused, detailed, and kind”. In school his teacher calls him “Sweet Jordan”. He is a child who prefers routine and rules and does well in school and daycare.
Jordan is an affectionate child and will give genuine spontaneous affection to all members of his family and extended family.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, or DE. If you live in OR, you may have to travel to his home state to finalize this adoption.
If you have never had a homestudy before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But, we would love to share with you the process of starting a homestudy so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption qualifies for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
