Description
Meet Jessika!
*Jessika is 6 years old and was adopted in 2015 internationally. As is common among our Second Chance kids, Jessika has not attached successfully to her adopted mom and this continues to hurt the entire family. We are partnering with her family to find a new adoptive family for Jessika who has a current homestudy (or one that can be easily updated) and no other children under least 8 years old. Please write to us at secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org if you’d like to know more about Second Chance adoptions and our process of being preapproved for Jessika’s adoption. Please write to us!
When we asked Jessika’s adopted parents to tell us about her here’s what they said: Jessika is extremely smart and does well in school. She is attentive and can figure out things that you’d expect from a child older than her. She picks up new things quickly—you only have to show/tell her once and she remembers forever! Jessika can be charming and engaging. She can be very silly and likes jokes. Her favorite color is yellow; favorite movie is Frozen; favorite food is chicken nuggets. She enjoys dressing up like a princess. She is more of an inside child—preferring a temperature-controlled environment where she can color or read a book. She grew up in an orphanage without AC or heated water—and boy does she like both of these amenities now! Her favorite character is Olaf from Frozen. Jessika likes to color and draw—she draws a lot of pictures of spiders because “they’re scary!” She has a nice long attention span and is great at puzzles because she can maintain focus on one thing for a while.
Jessika LOVES all kinds of foods and is not a picky eater. She has no food allergies.
Jessika does well in school and knows her ABC’s, counting, colors, shapes, around 150 sight words, basic phonics, reads on par with peers, and has a good grasp of 1-10.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you live in NY, we may be able to help you adopt, please let us know ahead of time if you are—this is on a case-by-case situation. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption qualifies for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
