Description
Meet Ivy!
*Ivy is 7 years old, turning 8 this fall and was adopted domestically. She current lives in a home with several younger children and it is not a healthy, healing environment for her. Ivy needs to be the youngest in her home without little children to compete with the individual attention she needs. We are looking for a family with no other kids under age 11 and a current homestudy (or one that can be easily updated) to adopt Ivy. If you fit what we’re looking for, please write to secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org and request her full profile. We have a lot of good information to share with you about this child. Ivy needs to be adopted into a home without indoor pets, as she has some behaviors that may be harmful to small animals.
Ivy craves attention. Because of that, she is very affectionate and loving when she is the only child around. She would do extremely well in a home as the only child. Her adopted family says she usually has a happy and friendly demeanor. She loves helping out in the kitchen and cooking or baking with adults. She also loves watching movies and reading, especially if she has someone to read with (and she is an excellent reader). Ivy enjoys swimming and playing outside, but she also loves to dress up in girly clothing like a princess. Ivy enjoys riding her bike and is trying to learn how to roller skate. She wants to learn how to ice skate but has never tried before. Ivy also has a quick wit and can be quite humorous at times. She is artistic and crafty and loves to explore her surroundings, looking for things she can create.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started! We are only able to work with US citizens living abroad if they are active duty military.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
