Meet Brody!

*Brody is 8 years old and was adopted out of US foster care when he was 4.  Due to some tangled memories (we will discuss in his full profile if you write to us) he has not attached well to his adopted mom and his family feels he deserves a home where he can attach to parents and allow himself to feel love.  They are working with Second Chance to find a new adoptive family that has no other children under age 10 and a current homestudy (or one that can be easily updated).  If this fits your family and you’re interested in more info on Brody, please write to us for his full profile at secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org .  We’d love to tell you more about Brody and our process of being reapproved for a Second Chance adoption.  Please write to us!

When we asked Brody’s family about him, they told us he is a smart and resilient kid.  He loves to be outside—and would stay outside 24/7 if he could—riding his bike, skating, or jumping on the trampoline. He likes to fish and camp, and catch bugs and lizards.  He enjoys working alongside Dad doing yard work or working on cars.  He enjoys playing football with a county team and is really good at it.  He was quarter–back this past fall.  He worries a lot about others being safe and not getting hurt.  He is attentive and careful with little children—always trying to help and take care of them.  He has a sweet nurturing side that comes out around them.  He likes to play video games, swim, shoot pool, and play with trucks and cars.  He likes to help accomplish tasks—both working with others and working alone.  He is determined and persistent and doesn’t give up if something is hard to do.  He is independent and can do most things for himself.  He likes to take care of himself, and does a good job with self-care.  He is a typical kid—not too messy but not too neat and organized either!  His favorite foods are French fries, plain cheeseburgers and Doritos!  His favorite color is blue, and he loves anything with Legos and building activities.

Brody is in the 3rd grade and does well in school.  His grades are average or above-average.  His favorite subject is science.  He loves to work on engineering projects in his after-school program and brings home lots of interesting things he’s built, like windmills and such.  

Brody is sweet, kind and gentle to dogs both large and small.  

Brody has many friends at school and plays well with his cousins and kids in his neighborhood.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.  Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY, OR, or DE. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child.  But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future.  Please write to us and ask us how to get started!

Adoption is a legal process so costs for the adoption are $300 application fee, $3500 agency fee, a lawyer in your state for ICPC and finalization ($2000-$4000) and travel to the child’s state for a couple days to bring him home. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.
