Description
Meet Mara!
*Mara just turned 9 and was adopted internationally.
Mara is an active child who likes to dance, ski, bike, play softball and soccer, swim, do gymnastics and play outside. She also enjoys playing pretend with dolls and her friends. She can be very funny-she likes to be silly and joke around. She has a big heart and shows concern for others if they are sad or ill. She is a task-master: she sets her sights on something and will work hard until she masters it! The evidence of her hard work shows in her hula-hooping, backbends, and one-handed cartwheels! Mara likes to help around the house and knows that in a family, everyone has a job. She is happiest when she is proud of a job done well! She also likes painting, coloring, crafts, and is a wiz at puzzles! Her adopted parents describe her as athletic, determined, hard worker, strong-willed, helpful, considerate and a quick learner.
Mara loves little children and is great with them. She is not bossy at all, just genuinely helpful. She is gentle, sweet and caring with younger kids.
Mara is safe around animals. Her family has dogs and chickens, and she has a fish in her room that she takes great care of! She would love to have a cat someday!
Mara has lots of friends in school—she is usually the life of the party. She loves to hug people, is energetic and outgoing and energy-intense. She is always joking around and it didn’t take her much time at all to learn American sarcasm 😊.
In school, Mara is in the 2nd grade. As an English as a Second Language student, she is doing well. Math is her favorite subject. The special educator in school says that Mara is ‘well above’ where other kids would be having just come into the US and learning a new language. She learns at a much faster pace than most children would in the same situation.
Mara needs a new adoptive family who are homebodies. She thrives in a calm, consistent environment. She gets along well with other children either older or younger than her. We hope to find a family with no other children between ages 7-12 for her. If your family fits this profile and you are interested in possibly adopting her, please write to us and ask for her ‘full profile’.
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is usually required. If you have never had a homestudy before, and are interested in adopting from our program, please write and ask for more info on how to get started! Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY or DE.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption qualifies for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
