Description
*Meet Westin!
*Westin is a handsome 8 year old and was adopted domestically. He felt that his previous foster family was his ‘forever’ family and is angry at this current home for ‘stealing’ him away from that previous home. We believe that when Westin is readopted, he will feel rescued from this family and bond in a healthy way to his forever family. Second Chance is partnering with Westin’s family to find a new adoptive home with no other kids under age the age of 11 to adopt Westin. They are willing to consider all different kinds of families, except for a two-mom family (Westin has the most trouble with his adopted mother and also needs a strong male presence in his life). Second Chance requires that you have a current private homestudy (or one that can be updated within 3 weeks) in order to adopt from our program. If you fit what we’re looking for and are interested in learning more about this little boy, please write to us and request his full profile. We have some great information to share with you on why this little boy needs a different adoptive home. Please write to us at secondchanceinfo@wiaa.org .
Westin loves arts and crafts! He enjoys making paper airplanes and doing origami. He can follow the instructions in the books and only needs occasional help. He loves making art with just colored pencils, paper, scissors, and glue/tape. He really likes using scotch tape. We keep plenty in the art cabinet. He also enjoys drawing and has lots of sketchbooks. Give him any art supplies and he will make something creative. Cardboard boxes are also a hot commodity for his projects. He enjoys going to the local amusement park, the zoo, and the children’s museum, bowling, playing laser tag, and eating dinner out. He struggles at the arcade when he runs out of money and also gets upset if he loses games at the amusement park, so they avoid both.
Westin has done well at soccer camp, tennis lessons, swimming lessons, acting classes, and dance. He is quick to pick up any sport or physical activity. He has attended week-long outdoor summer day camps and done great as well. He loves to dance at home! The family often plays fun music and he dances all around. It is a great activity to get out built-up energy especially when it’s too hot or cold to go outside and play. He is very determined to do his very best when he likes an activity. He loves nature. His parents told us that they will lay in the grass, watch for little bugs, and notice the different tiny plants. He likes to do yard walks together and identify the plants and see how they are growing. Last summer, they bought a bird guide book and kept track of all the birds in their yard and at the feeders. He is respectful of nature and enjoys snuggles from their dog and cat.
Westin is going into 3rd grade. He just got a good conduct award recently! He is very intelligent and loves going to school. His grades are good and he has scored very high on his standardized tests. His teachers love him and enjoy having him in class. Westin picks up on new things quickly and he has a great memory for interesting facts. He always has a couple of friends on the bus and in school. He does not have trouble making friends.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY, or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you live in WI or FL, please let us know, as the adoption process may be longer and a bit more expensive than what is listed in our paperwork. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started! If you are a U.S. citizen living overseas, we may be able to work with you depending on a few details.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
