Tina – Placed
Tina, age 12, was originally adopted from Eastern Europe at age 5. She is in need of a new home. She is being relisted now because she has been having out-of-home treatment for over a year and is making great progress in learning to live compatibly with others.
Tina has been living at a therapeutic ranch in Montana for children who are struggling in their adoptive homes. The ranch reports that Tina has shown huge strides.
She can do grade level work in 7th grade. She is especially good in math and helps coach children who need help.
Tina loves pets and is good with them. She is a girly-girl who loves pretty clothes and looking good. She is an active child who loves gymnastics, soccer, fishing, baking, crafts and reading.
The Ranch reports that she likes to clean, organize and participate in group projects. She likes to crochet. She likes to write and often her best communication about herself is in her writing. She enjoys art and loves gymnastics. She is not currently able to take classes but she loves doing acrobatics on mats in the gym.
The Ranch feels that their success with adopted children is due to using the “love and logic” approach of working with the kids. Love and logic is a system of parenting that can be learned via classes, books, and also online. The Ranch says that this type of parenting is the least stressful for parents, and has caused the Ranch to see huge changes for good in many of the children (all of whom are adopted). We suggest that you look into “love and logic” if you are considering adopting one of our Second Chance children. This approach has worked very well with Tina. Tina does not do well with power struggles, so knowing how to parent without power struggles would be important for Tina.
Tina would do best in a home without younger children. The home that seems ideal is where Tina is an only child or only has a couple siblings who are no younger than 16 because she craves a lot of one-on-one attention. She has a lot of energy so would be good in a family that is active.
It would be a good idea to have a therapist who is familiar with post adoption issues ready to begin with Tina after a new adoption.
Due to state laws, we are not able to place her in FL, ND, NV, CT, MA, or DE.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A private domestic or international home study by a state licensed adoption agency or adoption social worker would be required.
Adoption is a legal process so there are costs for this adoption. This adoption qualifies for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.
