Meet Steven!

*Steven just turned 11 this month (Aug, 2020) and was adopted internationally when he was 6 as the youngest of four siblings all adopted into the same family.  The eldest two children have bonded well to the adoptive family, but both Steven and his middle sister (we will call her M in this profile) did not.  M has already been readopted into a new home and reports are positive so far on her progress in the home.  The first adoptive family hoped that after M was readopted, Steven’s behavior in the home would change, but it has not, so they are working with Second Chance to find a different adoptive family for Steven.  We agree with them that a new family (Christian) with no other children under age 13 and a current homestudy would be great for him.  If you fit this, please write to us for his full profile and learn why we think Steven is a good candidate for a secondary adoption.  Write to [email protected] .

Steven is reported to be an enjoyable little boy to be around. He is a chatter box, full of energy, and creative ideas.  His giggles are contagious and his eyes speak with a shining joy.  He is a very polite, and outgoing boy.  He likes to share with others.  He has very good table manners. His curiosity makes learning fun and interesting. He likes to take things apart to find out how they work—he is good at working with his hands. Steven enjoys working on just about anything side by side with you.  He enjoys the company of an adult and working together.  He really needs one-on-one attention from his adult and thrives on it.  He is a very smart boy and is improving in the area of applying himself more with his schoolwork.  He is a social boy and is liked by his teachers and friends at school.  He can be loving and compassionate.  He enjoys board games, coloring and working with his hands.  He is happy to spend time outside in the yard riding his bike; playing with anything magnetic, and going on walks are among his favorite things.  His favorite subject in school is science.  Steven’s favorite food is a South American tortilla stuffed with meat or cheese, or just plain.  He is just as happy to be inside doing something quiet as he is playing outside.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.  Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, OR, NY or DE.  This adoption has a grant to cover the full agency fee.  If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child.  But, we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future.  Please write to us and ask us how to get started!

Adoption is a legal process so there will be legal costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet.  It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for.  If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption.  Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family.  These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
