Silas – Placed

Meet Silas!

This little guy has made remarkable progress over the last several months, so he is being relisted. He’s been waiting a long time. Perhaps he could find a place in your home? Families with younger children are encouraged to apply!

*Silas is an 8-year-old boy who was adopted a little over 3 years ago from an Eastern European country.

Silas is a friendly and enthusiastic boy with a fantastic smile. He especially enjoys PE class at school and physical activity in general. He has a very active imagination and is often found pretending to be a superhero or a doctor. In more quiet moments, Silas enjoys pouring over maps and globes and learning about other states as well as new cultures. He likes to dream about the places he wants to visit when he grows up. He also loves to listen to his parents read stories aloud. He is kind to people and animals and makes friends easily at school and church. Silas exhibits protective instincts toward his friends and younger siblings, and is generally helpful to others.

Silas has Caudal Regression Syndrome and uses a wheelchair for mobility. He is very healthy despite his disability, and has a fierce determination not to allow his disability to limit him. His current adoptive family is partnering with us to find a 1 or 2 parent family who can attend to his medical attention needs, as well as help him to develop a positive attachment with his new family.

We have lots more information available about Silas. Please email us back if you would like to see copies of his additional records and learn more about him. Email [email protected]

We cannot place a Second Chance (SC) child into a home that already has children within 2 yrs of the SC child’s age. Since Silas will turn 9 in December, this means no other children between the ages of 7 and 11. His current adoptive family previously thought he would do best in a family with no younger children, but in light of his progress over the last 12 months, we think he would thrive in a family with younger and/or older children.

This is a private, legal adoption so there are costs involved. This adoption qualifies for the IRS adoption tax credit. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, MO, NY or DE.
