Emily – PLACED
Emily is a beautiful 11 year old girl adopted 5 years ago from Africa. She is described as having a sweet personality, and she generally gravitates towards younger children as friends. She enjoys sports as well as art. Her favorite sport is running and she has been involved with a sports program called “Girls on the Run”. She finished 4th grade last spring and is doing well in catching on to school subjects.
Elizabeth has shown that she likes pets.
Both of Emily’s adoptive parents have come to the U.S. from other countries. They originally adopted Emily with her little brother. Thankfully the brother has done extremely well, so he will stay in the home. We would like a new family who will be open to allowing the children to have on-going appropriate ongoing contact as they grow older. The children do not seem to have much of a connection between them, but it is always important to maintain an avenue of contact between siblings, when possible.
It is believed that she would do well in a home with a couple younger children, but as always, we do not place children into homes with others who are within 2 years of her age. Ideally we would like a family with a stay-at-home mother although this is not a requirement.
We have some additional information on Emily, like school records that we can send you. If you have any questions, let us know at [email protected]
This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CO, CT, MA, NV, ND or DE. We can place her into NY since that is her homestate.
Adoption is a legal process so costs for the adoption are $200 application fee, $3500 agency fee, a lawyer in your state for ICPC and finalization ($2000-$3000) and travel to NY for a couple days to bring her home. Her parents will arrange her flight to NY from Costa Rica at that time. This adoption qualifies for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit. Contact us at [email protected]
