*Darcy is 10 years old soon turning 11. She is well-adjusted and well- behaved. She was adopted internationally last year and has attached well to her adopted family. She would make a delightful addition to someone’s family. Her behavior is very good. However, her adopted mom has developed some serious health problems and is unable to continue parenting Darcy. Darcy deserves to live in a home where her family is able to give her all the love and attention she has missed out on for her first almost 9 years. We are looking for a homestudy ready family (or one that can be ready quickly) with no other kids under age 12 who can give Darcy the one-on-one attention she craves. Darcy would do best if one parent could be home fulltime or at least by the time school is out. She loves to play card and board games and would love it if a parent had time for things like that. If you fit what we’re looking for, please write to us for Darcy’s full profile. We’d love to share more about this child and our preapproval process for a Second Chance adoption. Write to [email protected] .
Darcy is a hard worker, especially when she finds something like she loves (like gardening or cooking). She has developed empathy and compassion under her adoptive parent’s care. This is shown by how she cares for the family pets (two German shepherds and one cat), and wants to care for her adoptive mother whose health is declining. Darcy has started thinking of others more. She does an excellent job in school. She is very funny and has a great sense of humor. She is an incredibly fast learner. She did not speak any English one year ago, and understands/speaks English about 50% of the time now, with no special tutoring (naturally learning). She learned how to swim in just a few lessons. She enjoys many activities, especially riding her bike and swimming. She also loves card games and board games, walking the dogs, playing soccer/kickball in the yard, and gardening with both vegetables and flowers. Her family tells us she is funny, charming, and energetic. She sets goals and meets them. She is a resilient child. She is very good at Origami and can make cute little frogs that can really jump. Darcy is very talkative and inquisitive – she loves to learn. She has very good hygiene and prefers organization of things over messy.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption.
Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, NY, WI or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started! We are only able to work with US citizens living abroad if they are active duty military.
Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption may qualify for the IRS Adoption Tax Credit.

*To protect the privacy of our waiting children and their families, Second Chance does not share real names for our waiting children on the Internet. It is our policy to only share a snippet of a waiting child’s details as well as the type of adoptive family we are looking for. If you fit the POSTED REQUIREMENTS, are home study ready (or can be soon!), and interested in adding this child to your family, please write to us for an honest, in-depth profile on the child including medical, educational, and behavioral information and learn the full story of why this child needs a secondary adoption. Our program social worker and program director have worked together with the child’s family to carefully set the requirements for the new family. These requirements are not negotiable, so please honor the needs of this child by not asking us to bend them for you.
