Aria

Description

Meet Aria!

*Aria is 8 years old and was adopted from US foster care by relatives. She has not fully attached to these parents and they feel that younger parents will have the energy to fully support her as she grows and develops. Part of her failure to bond to this family may be that they are close relatives and she frequently visited their home before her adoption. In situations like this, the child has a hard time separating the adoptive family from the abusive birth family. They feel that Aria deserves a fresh start—a do-over, in a brand-new family with no memories of her past trauma. We are looking for a 2-parent home (may consider a single mom if she has the time for Aria), with a current (or easily updated) home study and no other children in the home under age 10. Please read through the rest of this profile and write us back for her additional information if you’d like to know more about Aria and our adoption process. Please write to [email protected] . Her family is only willing to consider a protestant Christian family for her, as Aria has a strong faith in God and talks about Jesus frequently.

When asked to describe Aria, her adopted parents say she is a delightful, sweet, smart and creative young girl who enjoys many things in life. She loves to read and write and has shown proper engagement in school. She is an incredibly observant child who enjoys reading aloud, is responsive to positive feedback and has developed a strong skill of using positive self-talk. All around, Aria is a funny, charismatic and energetic person. Her favorite hobbies are bike riding, journaling, reading, arts and crafts, dancing, listening to music, playing dress-up and playing with dolls. She is a girlie-girl who loves dresses that twirl and McDonald’s dates with her adopted dad. She really enjoys participating in family traditions. She loves sing-a-long movies like Frozen and Moana! She does not like to be cold, but enjoys many summer outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and riding bikes. She also loves the beach and swimming—she is not a strong swimmer yet, but has been taking lessons. Her favorite color in the WHOLE world is PINK! Aria enjoys working toward goals and does well with incentives for behavior. A book called “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” has worked well for her adopted parents and is also being used by the residential program where Aria has been living since the end of October. We recommend that her new family purchase this book and familiarize themselves with it and be prepared in this way to help Aria continue her success in their home.

Aria is in the 2nd grade and on grade level for all subjects—her most recent report card is all A’s!

Aria does well with the family’s dog as long as she is monitored. She is responsible for caring for the class rat at school and does great with it—feeding, watering and holding it.

This is a private adoption, so a state or foster home study might not work. A state authorized private domestic or international home study is generally required. You will need to have a current, or easily-updated home study for this adoption. Due to state laws, we are not able to place this child in CT, MA, or DE. If you live in OR, you may need to travel to the child’s state to finalize this adoption. If you have never had a home study before, we cannot help you adopt this child. But we would love to share with you the process of starting a home study so you could be approved for a child in the near future. Please write to us and ask us how to get started!

Adoption is a legal process so there will be costs associated. This adoption qualifies for the IRS Adoption Tax Credits.
