Many things are still changing with adoptions in China. The special needs program is a wonderful fast moving program. The children that we have brought home have been a real joy to their families. Many of them have been in foster care at some point and are used to a mother and father as authority. They seem to have almost no attachment disorder and this is wonderful.

Many families find “their” child before they even begin the home study. The length of time the home study process takes is determined by how many places you, the husband and wife, have lived since turning 18 years old. A Child Abuse Clearance is required from each state or country in order to complete the home study.  Also some states require a state review and approval of the home study before the home study can be sent to USCIS where you file for the U.S. permission to adopt a child.

From the time the dossier is sent to China you can usually plan on traveling to pick up your child in 6 months.

China now will allow families to do two adoptions simultaneously.  We have  had several families take advantage of this and adopt two children at the same time, picking them both up in the same trip to China.  This does require the family to spend an extra week in China because the paperwork must be done for one child at a time in the province each child is from.

We have also had a number of families who have used the same dossier to adopt a second child. This can be done as long as the dossier is in China within one year of the completion of the first adoption.

The China special needs program also has a lot of little boys who are waiting for families.  I have had many families adopt little boys and have been so happy to have this option.

We are able to help you send packages to your child while you are waiting.  Many families include a small picture book they make with photos of mommy, daddy, the family and home.  This helps your child to recognize you when you pick them up.  Many families have reported that their child has the book in hand when they meet them.

GREAT NEWS!!!! The tax credit has been extended and below is the link to this information.  Make yourself familiar with it so you will know how to take advantage of it when filing your income tax returns.

One of our Families adopting a baby girl from China is the author of a wonderful book all adoptive families would enjoy reading.  It shows the adoption miracle from all the different parties involved.   The authors name is Sara Berry and I know you will love this book.

A Cord of Three Strands….a true story of three women struggling, searching, and finding God’s redemption and grace despite obstacles and heart-wrenching choices.

First Strand:  Peggy, a middle aged woman, devoted to God and to her husband, Mitch.  Peggy has lived with the heavy burden of longing for 18 long years.  Her longing? To be a mother.  Infertility time after time has interrupted her hopes and dreams, and at times caused her to question her faith in her loving God.

Second Strand:  Tricia, a young, rebellious teenager who has lost her “first love,” Jesus.  She has stepped away temporarily from her deep faith in Christ, and finds that even temporary disobedience has great consequences.

Third Strand:  Hilary, the baby girl who brings both love and light to all.  Through Hilary, God is writing His redemptive story for the world to see.  And the effects of this story, and Hilary’s love, will change lives, heal wounds, and bind together the three strands in perfect unity.
