Piper – Placed
*Piper was adopted from an Asian country and is 6 years old.
Piper is generally a happy and compliant child. She has great receptive language skills but very little expressive speech. She can point to what she wants and say ‘please’. She can use one word to make many of her needs known such as ‘eat’, ‘please’, ‘lay down’, and ‘no thank you’ if she doesn’t want something you offer. She has a set of flashcards that her school is teaching her to use to make her needs known. One very cute word Piper knows and loves is “jam” which means music! She loves music so much—all kinds of music—and always wants the radio or a cd on in the car. She likes to move her body to the beat and will try to sing the words or melody of the song.
Piper enjoys being read to and loves to look at picture books. She loves to color and has recently learned how to stay in the lines for the most part. She also enjoys physical activity and likes to swing, and go for walks. She also enjoys interactions with her family that involve sitting close and snuggling. She loves puzzles and will sit quietly and work on a 500 piece puzzle until she’s completed it! Piper enjoys all kinds of foods, and loves salty things and vegetables.
We are hoping to find a new adoptive family for Piper who has children around her age (no one between 5-7) who has the time and energy to continue helping Piper achieve her full potential. Please write to us for her ‘full profile’ to learn more about this little girl and view video of her running, playing and putting together a large puzzle!
