Wasatch International Adoptions (WIA) is a full service adoption placing agency licensed in the States of Utah. Full service means WIA can perform any adoption related service. However, depending on state requirements, some services may have to be completed by an agency licensed in the state of residence of the adoptive parents. Services provided to adopting families are as follows:

Adoption Services

Wasatch International Adoptions can assist families living in every state in the United States and U.S. citizens living abroad with the following:

• Assistance in the choice of an adoption program that is best for your circumstances.
• Assist in the preparation of the adoption dossier and any other paperwork necessary to adopt from a foreign country, even when WIA is not your placing agency.
• Assist with a home study or providing a list of our partnering agencies that can provide home study assistance in your state of residence.
• Assistance with post adoption and post placement services once your adoption has been completed.

When adopting a child through WIA, you will be assigned a case manager that will work with you directly with you as the adoptive family through all aspects of the adoption process. WIA has successful adoption programs in both Asia and Europe.

Pregnancy Counseling and Birth Mother Counseling – If you are a birth mother who may be considering placing your child for adoption, WIA can meet with you to discuss your options.  The options available include making the decision to place your child or parent your child.  Our social workers have extensive experience in birth mother counseling and are supportive of any decision you make as a birth mother. 

International Home Study, $1,200

• WIA provides international home study services for families who desire to adopt. WIA is a Hague accredited agency and all home studies will meet Hague standards and will be completed by an experienced professional Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The timeline for the completion of a home study is approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Our social workers are familiar and knowledgeable with the requirements of USCIS, Hague requirements, and the foreign countries around the world. WIA’s social workers can provide home study services in the states of Utah and can also provide a list of partnering, out of state agencies that can help you complete a home study and any required post adoption reports needed.

Domestic Home Study - $900

WIA provides home study services and assistance for families who are adopting domestically. Our social workers are familiar with the requirements for domestic home studies and the home study will be completed by a licensed professional social worker. The timeline for the completion of a domestic adoption will depend on how quickly state child abuse registry results are provided to WIA. The fee for a domestic home study also includes the required court appearance of the social worker at finalization.

WIA Home Study Update – cost $300

• If you have a current home study and the circumstances in your home have changed, our WIA social workers can complete a home study update for you. If you need a home study update you will be assigned one of our experienced social workers who know exactly what is required for USCIS and the State of Utah. Home study updates are usually completed within 30 days after contacting WIA with your request.

Non-WIA Home Study Update – cost $350

• If WIA did not complete your home study but the circumstances in your home have changed since you submitted your original home study to USCIS, WIA can complete a home study update for you. We will assign a social worker who can complete an update to your current home study regardless of what agency completed the original home study. Home study updates are usually completed within 30 days after contacting WIA with your request.

Post Adoption/Post Placement Service – cost $250 per visit

• WIA provides post adoption/post placement assessments and follow up for families who have adopted internationally or domestically, regardless of the agency used for placement. All international follow up assessments will follow the format required by the foreign government and assessments for domestic adoptions will follow the format required by the State of Utah. There is an additional fee if the social worker or an agency representative is required to make a court appearance. Dossier Preparation Service

• cost is $1,000 but can be more depending on the complexity of the dossier documents required.

Wasatch International Adoption offers dossier preparation assistance for any foreign adoption from any country around the world. If you are adopting independently or are using an agency for placement that does not offer dossier assistance, WIA would be delighted to assist in the preparation of your adoption dossier. You will be assigned a dossier specialist who will help you with the documents needed for your dossier, and will assist you with the authentication or apostille process. Our staff is knowledgeable and have assisted hundreds of adoptive families prepare and submit dossiers to complete the adoption process from a variety of countries around the world. For those families who are using WIA as a placing agency, dossier service is included in the contracted cost of your adoption.

Crisis Intervention

WIA provides crisis intervention for all families using any of WIA’s services. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide crisis counseling for families experiencing problems after the placement of a child. If issues cannot be resolved, our social workers will assist the family in finding private long term counseling within the community.
